Good Evening Brods,
Here is an update of the relief operation by the brods for this day, Oct
1,2009:
We have received a total of Php 40,000 from brod Lito Manahan late this
morning. After which, we purchased the goods that have been suggested as
immediately needed by the victims of Ondoy in Bagong Silangan.
Here is the breakdown of expenses:
10
sacks of rice(50kg/sack): 500 kilos X P31.60/kilo = P15,800
100pcs soap: 100xP16.85 = P1,685
300pcs noodles: 301xP5.70 = P1,715.70
plastic bags: P287.85
200pcs noodles: 200xP6.5 = P1,300
50 boxes of juice drinks(10pcs/box): 50xP52.25 = P2,612.50
200pcs corned beef: 200xP28.50 = P5,700
200pcs sardines: 200xP11.25 = P2,250
100pcs alcohol: 100xP20.65 = P2,065
100pcs coffee: 100xP17.95 = P1,795
100pcs milo: 100x17.65 = P1,765
50 kg sugar(1kg/pack): 50xP37.50/kilo =P1,875
TOTAL Purchased: 38,851.05
food for the brods: P540
drinks for the brods: P259
transpo expenses: P500
Grand Total: Php 40,150.05
(150 pesos may be a little sacrifice from the resident brods, so no
need to reimburse)
From there, we have repacked 100 bags of goods that approximately a little
less P400/bag. Attached are some of the pictures taken from the purchase
of goods until repacking.
I would like to thank the Toledo family for volunteering thier house as a
venue for repacking.
I would also like to thank brod Lito Bermudo for donating 1 ton of water
(1000 pcs of 1 litre bottled water). But the problem now is that on how
can we pick up the donations with the right vehicle. The residents can
utilize 2 vehicles that can bring at least 500 bottles but it would be not
best for it will cost us tranportation expense as well as time. As
suggested by brod Alec, perhaps we could rent a jeepney for it to pick it
up and maybe place it directly to the Toledo's place. But I am still not
so sure if this vehicle can accomodate the products. Brods, any suggestion
on this matter will be greatly appreciated. Or if any brod can help or can
lend us a vehicle like a small truck, please let me know. Here is my
number, 09172027625, or you can reply through this email. Thanks.
Here is the plan for tomorrow: (Oct.2)
We
would contact brod Marlon on how we can give him bags of goods for relief.
We will also go back early morning to the Toledo's place and finish up
repacking the goods. It will be a two way trip. First, we go to the
relatives of brod Ace, then to Sito Veterans where the drop point of the
Gabriela is at.
We
will try to get home as early as we can so that we can also prepare for
the typhoon coming. (As i was struck by the email of brod Jett and Ojie of
the cancellation of work tomorrow.)
We
will also try to plan on how we can get the donations (1 ton of water) of
brod Lito B.
So, brods, there is it, the initial work and donations of Beta Epsilon to
the community hard hitted by typhoon Ondoy. I am very glad and thankful
that the residents are very excited and willing to help as well as our
alumni who has been ever supportive to us and to our endeavors.
We are still hoping that the donations that will be generated from
generous brods would be more than of what we have prepared right now. Brod
Lito Manahan, if there will be a second wave of donations for this relief
operation, please let me know asap so that I can inform the residents and
we could prepare for it. Also, the Toledo family will still be glad to
help as to what they asked me if there will be more to come.
I greatly appreciate all the support and efforts given by the residents
and alumni, most especially the donors for the relief operation. I hope
that we don't get tired of helping our brothers, and all who are in need.
Thanks and more power to you!
Hail Beta Epsilon! Brighter be Thy Name!
Fraternally yours,
Aerson '05b

subject [be_matters] STORM KETSANA DISASTER FUND
iSUNDAY, September 27, 2009 (Sept. 28 in the Philippines)
Reuters: - The Philippines appealed for international aid to help ten of
thousands marooned by flash flood
L.A. Times: - Tropical storm Ketsana slammed ashore the Philippines on
Saturday leaving at least 72 people dead and thousands on rooftops in the
capital worst flooding in 42 years. The government declared "State of
Calamity" in metro Manila and 25 storm-hit provinces.
Brods, I woke up this morning reading the above headlines and other TV
reports. Four years ago, we responded vigorously to a similar disaster in
Albay province. Storm Ketsana has presented to us a much bigger challenge
to help in any way our own people and country. I know that any amount that
the Beta Epsilon Fraternity will be able to raise will not be significant
in the realm of financial aid needed for this disaster, but it always feel
good to be able to help.
I am therefore initiating a
fund-raising for the victims of Storm Ketsana under the auspices of the
Beta Epsilon Fraternity. For BEFAAA members, your contrbutions will be
tax-exempt (right Sarcee?).
As a starter, I am pledging $200.00 to the Storm Ketsana Disaster Fund.
