Something new in the 2009 Lantern Parade and fireworks display:

Beta Epsilon hosts 10 survivor families of Ondoy flooding

UP Diliman campus

December 18, 2009

Our Bagong Silangan guests with Dean Rowena Guevara and Associate Dean Antonia Tanchuling

This is the first time that Beta Epsilon has guests to enjoy with them the UP Lantern Parade and the spectacular fireworks display. Our guests came from our beneficiaries in the fraternity's relief work in barangay Bagong Silangan in Quezon City, one of the most devastated by the Ondoy flooding where more than 119 died and 20 still missing. We were told that it is good for faster recovery from a traumatic experience if the survivor families could enjoy happy experiences like viewing the Lantern Parade and the fireworks.

The fraternity decided to hosts 10 families of about 52 members, chaperoned by 8 members of our partner organization in the community, SAMAKANA-Gabriela, 3 of whom happened to be graduates or students of UP Diliman.

The following photos show our guests in UP Diliman -- from the Archithecture building, to the tambayan at  Melchor Hall, to the Beta Epsilon Way, and to the amphitheater.

We give special thanks to Dean Guevera and Associate Dean and Betanak Tonette Tanchuling for welcoming our guests and joining in a photo-ops with them.

Each pack conisisted of  hamon and other familiar items on the noche buena table worth a thousand pesos. The noche buena gift is a donation of Davaenos of California  sent through Betanette Fe Albano and her sister Bing who is the assoiciation's president.

In addition, our fraternity  gave a cash gift of P500 for the recados, etc.

Everybody was happy, including all the resident and alumni brothers. After all, It is Christmas time.
