The scientific tool called the sliderule as demonstrated by Prof. Leony Liongson

Leony writes about his cameo role in Scene 1, Act I: The Slide Rule:

CTB editor Dr. Rhodora Gonzales was looking for anyone who had a slide rule and could demonstrate its use. I always kept my old 1966 NAMARCO-sold ILEF-funded K&E-branded slide rule in my office, and naturally volunteered to model for the slide rule. We picked the busiest tambayan who would welcome me (us) - the  UP ACES to join the demo. The smiles of the UP ACEs members were genuine upon seeing the logic of slide rule multiplication: log(ab) = log(a) + log(b).

You can count how many times my funny face appears in that coffeetable book and realize how much it pays off to be helpful to an editor who is under time pressure. I was sending her last minute photo files of other faculty members, alumni, old sceneries (some from Alejandrino and Dom Ilio collections). Naturally, I sent my own old photos too. She did not publish all I gave, but selected the hand-somest photos and skipped the "hand-sama"(a CS'68  terminology), which is a matter of taste. I think Rhod was my student once :-)
