Subject [be_matters] Mike V BE'59 Necro Rites

Dear Brods,

Per Rollo instructions: "keep it short and happy, in keeping with Mike's wishes".

I kept reflecting on this as I left the office and be on my way to Mike's necro rites last night. Pano kaya gagawin ng mga speakers ito? I have attended numerous necro rites given to relatives, friends, and various acquaintances and was quite intrigued as to how the organizers and speakers would do this. I kept wondering - Happy? How can that be? But at the same time, it was as if Mike himself was saying, yes, that is what I want it to be. The instructions were true to Mike's character.

My compliments to the organizers and speakers! Short, happy, and very touching!

Mike's necro is by far the happiest send-off I have ever experienced. Greeting Mike on his birthday as well was brilliant - the cake, the candle blowing, the singing of Happy Birthday made it so happy. And together with the starting candle procession; the roll call; the well-coordinated tributes, including those read from brods who are abroad or couldn't make it last night; the singing; and, the response from Brod Mikey - everything blended so well for a Betan par excellence!

Mila, Mike should be smiling up there!

BEst regards,
Roger P. '60
