Tree Planting

This reminds us of the Chinese saying that you are a man if you have a) sired a son, b) written a book, and c) planted a tree.

I heard that from UP President Carlos P. Romulo in a convocation at the University Theater in the 1962 or 63.

subject Engineering Fraternities United: Paradigm Shift

Brods,

This coming Saturday(Oct. 9), the (4) Fraternities in College of Engineering will be having a joint project through the leadership of Dean Aura Matias. The project will be a tree planting activity and the whole event was planned by the joining parties with the admin of CoE.

In line with this, each fraternity is to have a maximum of 50 people attending the event. Their will be a program in which the head and/or one alumnus will have to speak in behalf of the fraternity. Also, after the event, lunch will be served and shared by all the attendees.

For those who can and will come, meeting time will be 7:00-7:30am on the Engineering steps. The venue is just the corner of University Ave. and Commonwealth Ave.

See you there!

Fraternally Yours,
Rellan F. Castro

Brunch at the Melchor Hall Lobby

That is a clever  portmanteau - breakfast and lunch  - to describe the meals at around 10AM hosted by Dean Matias at Melchor Hall to participants of the Tree Planting activity.

Unfortunately, I had to be in a meeting in QC and did not proceed to Melchor Hall after the free planting. If anybody has photos, please send me copies to post here. Thank you.

Project Tree-planting is a very well-organized activity of the four fraternities initiated by Dean Au Matias and enthusiastically participated in by the four college fraternities: Beta Epsilon, EMC2, Epsilon Chi and Tau Alpha.

Congratulations to Dean Au Matias and the four fraternities in the college! May you have more common activities in the future.
