■ Flood mitogatopm in Metro Manila. Report on Ondoy. Published also in Beta Epsilon Times ■ Manuscripts - Flood shelters ■ Optimum location for flood shelters - a GIS approach
The SAMAKANA-GABRIELA group from barangay Bagong Silangang, our partners during the Ondoy relief work at the barangay last year, sent 6 representatives from the community, led by our point person there, Nemia. They were most interested in ripraps and flood shelters because after Ondoy, after more than a year, the government has not done anything. The residents just rebuilt their homes or built new ones on government land tha was flooded several meters high during the flood. |

There is something delightful about taking a Philcoa-UP jeepney ride in gong to the venue of the lecture, which is Balay Kalinaw. The route takes you t to the Unveristy Avenue and then to the south side of the Academic Oval. Here are sights along the route. See if you can identify some landmarks, including the Ilang Ilang Dormitory for girls, Arts and Sciences, old BA, Education, Vinzons Hall, International House, etc.. |
