The Block
Booster has become an institution. It has been endorsed by the Office of
Student Affairs....The goal of the activity, that is to introduce the
freshmen to wholesome university extracurricular activities, is achieved.
This activity has been beneficial to the studentry and the University.
Among the members of the Beta Epsilon it has been an awaited task to
continue the tradition of service, but more it has drawn together the
elements of the Beta Epsilon by working closely.

Brods,
We held the 37th Annual Blockbooster on Aug.4-6, 2010, and it was a
resounding success!
It
was held in the CM Recto Hall, an auditorium inside the Faculty Center,
which is in the middle of both the CSSP (AS), and CAL. 50 teams signed up
in our registration booth in Math during the week before the event and
almost 15 more teams, composed of freshmen who were passing by CM Recto
and were curious about the cheering students inside it, signed up during
the event.
Despite a 3-day event schedule instead of the usual 5, the quizzes went by
smoothly. Out of 60+ teams who registered and attended the event, team
“Maksci Elite 1” (according to them it meant Makati Science Elite #1;
there were a total of 4 Maksci Elites, but only Team #1 reached the
finals) consisting of Kevin Orpilla, Jed Berenguer, Gerald Caalam, Joel
Loreño and Grace Bernadas, all from Makati Science trumped all other
competition and won the coveted P15,000 Grand Prize in a less than close
battle over team “GELO” (George Ong, Gian Baronda, Jefferson Manano,
Ronniel Baquio, Paolo Yandoc). The champions won the match decisively, 4
points to 0.
In the Battle for 3rd, Team “WALA” (Neil Astrologo, Maikko Aleman, Francis
Pervera, Jomari Tejeresas, JM Regida) barely defeated Team “YAP” (Allan
Sampang, Faye Villaseñor, Daryll Bonquenta) by getting the Math question
and overtaking team YAP with the score 2 points to 3.
When asked about their plans for the prizes, Team Maksci Elite 1 said that
they plan on going on a block outing after the semester ends.
In behalf of the residents, we would like to thank all the alumni,
especially Brod Wally Liu, who supported and ensured the success of the
event. We would also like to extend our special thanks to Brod Robbie
Fabian who visited during the first day of the event and treated the
residents to lunch.
Thank you. Beta Epsilon Mabuhay!
